Which courses do you teach this year?
Seminar Regional and Transport Economics (Block 3) and Behavioural Transport Economics (Block 4).

What do you like most about the course that you teach/your field of expertise (Behavioural Transport Economics)?
Basically, it’s fun! It is always fascinating to see how simple tricks can influence the behaviour of people in a way that is good for the society. Learning how to understand and influence behaviour can be very important. Look what’s happening with COVID, it’s all about behavioural change!
What did you study and where?
Economics in Venice (Ca’Foscari), Urban Management in Rotterdam (EUR) and Barcelona (UAB).

What kind of student were you?
I guess just a regular student… combining studying with all other things students do (going out, part-time jobs, sport, …).

Looking back, is there anything you would do differently about your time as a student?
Not a single thing, I really enjoyed it!

What do you like to do in your spare time?
Well, having a busy job and three kids you don’t really have spare time. But you do have a lot of fun!! To keep me in a decent physical condition I like to run, but I do it only 2-3 times a month. I also try to regularly go back to Italy, where my family lives and help my parents cultivating olive trees.
What are you most proud of?
Professionally, I hope to inspire students to do something interesting and maybe to develop that spark I developed when I was studying and pursue a career they really like. Personally, I am pretty much proud of my family.
What is your advice to this year's UPT students?
Hold on!!! Because of COVID you can probably not enjoying student’s life as you wish. But if you can make it through, you’ll be stronger!

Can you tell us a fun fact about yourself?
I am Italian but I have lived almost half of my life in The Netherlands. Sometimes I think I succeed in combining the worst of both culture in one person. Anyway, I never take myself too seriously...
